In the late ’90s, talent agent Asia (Kathleen Kenny) is desperate to prove that she belongs as a Hollywood talent agent. In her pursuit of success, Asia has to make a decision that will ultimately change her and her 15-year-old client’s life.
GK co-produced "Functioning" and Kevin Hackenberg directed photography on this performance-driven short film, set in the same year GK was formed.
“Functioning” was written and directed by Artisha Mann-Cooper, a seasoned film and series producer and line producer. The film explores Artisha's experience of being a woman and trying to work with other women in the entertainment industry. This is her directorial debut.

“Functioning” was produced by Mann-Cooper and Carl Rumbaugh, Emilio Mazariegos, Jonathan J. Cooper, Andy Cornett and Kevin Hackenberg of GK. The short stars Kathleen Kenny, Ava Kolker, Dana Sparks and d’Arquoia Connor. This 14 minute period film was shot in downtown Los Angeles over two days in the summer of 2021 using GK's Arri Alexa camera package and Zeiss Super-Speed lenses with the support of our amazing LA crew and vendors.
No Rolodexes, Nokia cell phones or eMac's were harmed during the production of this film.
